My Visit To
Poland

October 4, 1999: Warsaw
Skra Stadium Monument Entrance 1600x1200 (408 KB)

"...the next structure on the right is a series of gates surmounted by arches. This is the entrance to a new monument erected by the Nissenbaum Foundation. It commemorates Jewish and Polish victims of Nazi crimes in the period 1941-44, whose bodies were discovered in 1988 on the grounds of the old stadium 'Skra.' The bodies of 6,588 Jews were moved from the 'Skra' stadium after the war and deposited at the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery." -- A Guide to Jewish Warsaw (©1996 Our Roots. All rights reserved.)
